Who we are Founded on the belief that a country’s natural resources belong to its citizens, the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) brings together governments, civil society and companies to improve natural resource governance. With over 50 member countries and 60 supporting companies, the EITI promotes transparency, accountability and informed policymaking in the extractive sector. Behind this ambitious and impactful organisation is a diverse and dynamic team of experts working together to advance the EITI mission. Based in Oslo, Norway, the EITI International Secretariat comprises a collaborative, multinational and multilingual team of around 50 professionals who value growth and development, strong relationships, open dialogue and inclusive leadership. What we are looking for We are seeking a motivated and experienced manager with strong leadership and interpersonal skills to guide the International Secretariat’s Data Team. Reporting to the Technical Director and working within the wider Disclosure Group, the Senior Data Manager will lead implementation of the EITI Data Strategy and support the organisation’s open data objectives.

Key priorities include making country data more accessible and timely through greater automation; promoting the responsible use of AI both within the Secretariat and at the country level; and strengthening data analysis and use. The Senior Data Manager will coordinate data work across the International Secretariat; have project management, budget, planning and execution responsibilities; and have overall responsibility for maintaining a comprehensive repository of EITI data. This role will involve keeping abreast of developments in open data, data standards, interoperability and AI and engaging with international stakeholders. While you do not need to be a data scientist, data analyst or developer for this role, you do need to have a strong foundation in applied data work and an ability and experience leading data professionals and collaborating across the EITI’s international community.

A key responsibility will be enabling EITI to automate data collection further, to increase the timeliness and relevance of data published by implementing countries.
  • •Help countries make data more accessible and useful, supporting the publication of data directly through government and company systems. Lead the Secretariat’s work in advancing systematic disclosures of data from implementing countries. Manage and support systematic disclosure projects, working with countries to prioritise data for disclosure.
  • •Build capacity and encourage innovation in data use, leading and coordinating the Data team’s work in supporting MSGs, national secretariats and independent administrators (IAs) in summary data collection, building capacity for data use and promoting innovations in data use for EITI reporting.
  • •Explore how AI can strengthen our work, identifying opportunities to enhance implementation and Validation support and drive efficiency in our work streams at both the International Secretariat and national secretariats.
  • •Use evidence to guide progress, contributing data to the Secretariat's KPI reporting, helping develop KPI's for data-related work and using the results to inform priorities and improvements.
