Lagt ut i dag, Fra arbeidsplassen.no (NAV)

About the position At the Centre for Precision Psychiatry, Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo, there is a full-time, 2,5 years position available as a Researcher in artificial intelligence (AI), statistical modelling, and computational method development. We invite applications from highly motivated candidates with a strong background in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computational modelling, engineering, physics, bioinformatics, or a related quantitative discipline. The position is part of an international and interdisciplinary research environment at the forefront of AI-driven precision neuroscience and precision medicine. The position is part of a collaborative effort between the University of Oslo, Oslo University Hospital, UC San Diego, the J. Craig Venter Institute (JCVI), and affiliated partners. The successful candidate will contribute to the development, implementation, and application of computational and AI-based methods for integrating multimodal brain imaging, genomics, registry, clinical, and other biomedical data, with the aim of improving understanding, prediction, and risk stratification of dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and related neuropsychiatric disorders. The position is linked to the “ResiliDem” project and the “Talent Utland” programme, funded by the Research Council of Norway. This is a unique opportunity to work on next-generation AI and statistical modelling approaches for large-scale, longitudinal, and potentially federated datasets, bridging computational innovation, biology, and clinical applications.

More about the position The Centre for Precision Psychiatry is dedicated to research on severe mental and neuropsychiatric disorders. The Centre runs multidisciplinary studies involving hospital departments in Oslo, research groups at the University of Oslo, and international collaborators. The main goal is to develop tools and knowledge for precision medicine in brain disorders, using advanced statistical methods and AI tools for the analysis of large-scale genetic, neuroimaging, registry, clinical, and molecular data. The Centre has access to large datasets including biomarkers, clinical and cognitive variables, genotyping and sequencing data, and MRI brain imaging data. In addition, we work closely with national population cohorts such as Tromsø, HUSK, and HUNT, Nordic registry and biobank resources, and large international consortia including PGC, ENIGMA, ADNI, NBDC, UK Biobank and others. We also collaborate with international partners at UC San Diego and the J. Craig Venter Institute, and with leading industry partners such as Nvidia, OpenAI, and Microsoft. For more information about the Centre, please visit our website: Centre for Precision Psychiatry - Centre for Precision Psychiatry The researcher hired for this position will work in a multidisciplinary team including clinicians, neuroscientists, geneticists, statisticians, applied mathematicians, AI researchers, and computer scientists. The candidate will contribute to computational method development, statistical modelling, machine learning, and AI-based analysis of large and complex biomedical datasets. The work will include development, implementation, testing, documentation, and application of reproducible analytical pipelines. The candidate will work with the Centre’s datasets, analytical methodology, and computational tools, including state-of-the-art data storage and research infrastructure hosted at the USIT TSD service, with access to high-performance GPU computing resources for large-scale AI and deep-learning applications: Services for sensitive data (TSD) - University of Oslo Our research environment is international, friendly, and inspiring, and the position represents a unique opportunity for career development for a motivated candidate with strong quantitative and computational skills.
